The following information covers some of the expectations that exist for our players – if you have any questions please talk to your Team Captain.

Club Basics

As a member of the Indigos Cricket Club you are required to always present yourself in a professional manner and abide by the standards set by club.

  1. The captains are responsible at all times for ensuring that play is conducted within the spirit of the game as well as within the laws of cricket.
  2. Players shall not in any time engage in any unbecoming conduct which would bring the game into disrepute.
  3. Players shall at all times accept the umpires’ decision and must not display any dissent.
  4. Players shall not use abusive language or make any offensive gestures.
  5. Players shall always treat club officials and members, their team-mates, opposition players and their officials with RESPECT!
  6. Every player shall always the one to encourages other team-mates to behave in the right manner and uphold the dignity of the club.

 

Training

Training is held every Thursday at 6.00pm till 8.00pm (During the season). It is important that all players:

  1. Be on time.
  2. If running late, call one of the Net captains.
  3. Complete warm up drills prior to the start of training as instructed by the net captain.
  4. Come and speak to Net Captain first rather than start socialising with other players.
  5. Wear the appropriate training shirt.
  6. Mobile Phone is to be turned off.
  7. If you are unable to attend training you must notify the net captain prior to the start of training.


Team Selection

Team selection can be a very emotional issue. Tension is usually greatest at the beginning of the season when teams are chosen. The following processes can make these prickly decision a little more transparent. The Selection Committee will select both teams and consist of the Head of selectors, One selection committee member and two captains.Teams will be selected by the following criteria:

  1. To select the best team from available Indigos players
  2. Reward performance, attitude and training attendance.
  3. Be game specific, i.e. One day or Two day game.
  4. To win every game we play!

Club Attire

The Club has arranged for the purchase of cricket attire for its Players we expect all items to be available prior to start of the season.

  1. White Playing Shirts with Club logo.
  2. Training Gear – T-Shirts, Singlets
  3. Cricket Cap-White with Indigos logo.


Match Day

  1. The Blue Indigos Training Top IS EXPECTED be worn in all warm ups and pre/post match
  2. Only the white club Cap or White Floppy hat to be worn with Match Day Shirt.
  3. Unless previously organized with your captain you ARE EXPECTED to attend a debrief after the match either at club rooms or in the ground.
  4. When playing a home game no one is expected to leave straw field without informing their captain as there may be work to be done.
  5. After the game it is a courtesy to shake hands with opponents and officials. Where possible try to have a drink at opponents bar.
  6. As a matter of courtesy, invite opponents to have Afternoon Tea before starting yourself.
  7. Match fees needs to be paid to the designated person by tea time, so that the umpires can be paid.
