Indigos Cricket Club committee has made a decision with regards to appointing captains and vice captains for season 2016/17. Phani Varma will replace Lucky as a A Reserve Captain and Ramesh sir will stay as a C Grade captain. Details are given below:

Players and their families turned up in huge numbers to support the club. Brad Hodge, Former Australian Test Player as well as a key member of Victoria and Rajasthan Royals teams was the guest of honour and very kindly gave away prizes to players as well as mementos to Club Sponsors. Over 150 guests also got an opportunity to ask questions to Brad Hodge directly and speak to him and take pictures with him. Brad Hodge also presented the club with a signed jersey to help raise funds for the season.

Bill Craddock, President of Mercantile Cricket Association and member of committee of Victorian Mercantile Cricket Association attended the event as a representative of the committee of the association, signifying the importance of the recent results of the club in their competitions.

Sumanth Billa, President welcomed all the guests and gave a brief summary of the season. Brad Hodge and Bill Craddock also spoke on the occasion and the function finished off with players, families and guests dancing to Bollywood tunes.

1. Moinak went past 1000 runs for Indigos with his classy hundred in round 3. He is the seventh batsmen to reach that milestone . Moinak, well done and I am sure u will continue to score a lot of runs in the near future.
2. Sumanth took his 100th wicket for Indigos and also completed his 1000 runs. Gulshan also completed his 100 wickets for Indigos.

During the home games, it is expected that you are at your respective venues an hour before the game starts to do the chores and put the covers away if needed. It is very disappointing to see some players turning up few minutes before the game. I can understand if there is a genuine reason but some of you are making this a habit. This is Unacceptable and hope to see u all on time every time.

Another area of concern is training. Most of the senior players are not attending the training every week and as the season is heating up, we need to train. We are into the 5th round (A reserve)  & 8th round (C Grade) and some of you did not even turn up once for training. Training is really important and if anyone thinks otherwise, you are mistaken. From now on, preference will be given to players who are attending the training regularly. This policy will be in force from next round and will be implemented without fail.

– 13 rounds (8 x 2-day, 5 x 1-day)

• Commence Oct 2-5 weekend with two one-day rounds.
• Followed by five two-day rounds through to Xmas, concluding Dec 20-21 weekend.
• Resume Jan 10-11 weekend with two one-day rounds.
• Followed by three two-day rounds through to the end of Feb.
• Last round a 110-over game on the Labour Day weekend (March 7-9).
• Finals commence March 14-15 weekend.

ONE-DAY GRADES

– 21 rounds — each team plays each other three times (90 over games)

• Commence Oct 4-5 weekend.
• Twelve rounds through to Xmas, concluding Dec 20-21 weekend.
• Resume Jan 10-11 weekend.
• Nine more rounds, finishing on the Labour Day weekend.

As most of you know Our Pre season training has started and we train every Saturday at 11.00 AM. We will train at an Indoor facility in Thomastown for next few weeks and train outdoors from first week of September. The indoor training centre has bowling machines and it is a good opportunity for you guys to work on any particular area of your batting. We need you to confirm your availability in advance so that we can book the bowling machines.

Another major issue is the number of teams for season 2014/2015. It is very important that you let us know your availability for season 2014/2015 ASAP so that we can plan accordingly. We need to let MCA know by 31/08/2014 with regards to the number of teams for the upcoming season. Without confirming your availability, it is going to very hard for us make a calculated decision.
